Custom Birthday Cake Decoration

The d day arrived. And with mom in tow, I eagerly made my way to the neighborhood bakery. The first thing I did was to ask the manager there for the book of birthday cake decoration designs, much to the amusement of my mother. Then, I spent the next hour or so poring over all kinds of intricate birthday cake decorations, trying really hard to decide which one I really wanted. Finally, I settled on a rather simple birthday cake design of a ship. Frankly, it was a bit of a let down when it finally arrived. In a bid to scrimp on the icing cost, the baker had conveniently made it a two tier cake, but with the upper deck being made completely out of wafer! It was all coated with icing to make it seem solid enough. But the cat was out of the bag when one of the candles that happened to be precariously close to the upper deck melted it and allowed the wafer to burn! Anyways, the rest of the birthday was a grand affair, and in my mind, all because of the birthday

A while later, when I happened to graduate, I got my second custom designed birthday cake decoration. This one was a rather simple affair by comparison. I didn’t have to go down to the baker to choose a design – I managed to do so entirely online this time around. But the thing that I noticed was that the number of birthday cake decorations had grown exponentially!
