Life In A Cake Decorating Magazine Business

Life In A Cake Decorating Magazine Businessating magazine for about three years now, and let me tell you that amature cooks are some of the snippiest people that you could ever hope not to meet. The important thing with a cake decorating magazine, or any magazine that deals with aspects of home making, decoration, or cooking, is to make people feel included. Along with our tips about how to decorate a cake, how to bake the perfect pastries, and things like that, we have tried to get our readership to contribute and feel a part of our cake decorating magazine all along. We have a column where people can send in recipes, and even a space where they can share cake decoration ideas and photos of their masterpieces. And that is where all the trouble started. Anyone who wanted to could send in cake decorating ideas to us, and the best one would be printed on our front cover. Readership of my cake decorating magazine tripled in the first month, and then tripled again. We

decided to have a “cake of the month” section. Unfortunately, some of the loser of the cake decoration contest were less than thrilled.

The worst of them all was not one of the ones who we could not include in that issue of the cake decorating magazine, but actually the second place runner up. You would think that having a silver in a nationally syndicated cake decorating magazine would make her happy with us, and the envy of all of her friends, but you would have thought that we ran over her dog with all of the angry, nasty letters that she started to send us. Some of them were downright abusive, and many other people wrote in with comments that were not a whole lot better. Some people have no manners!
